Dr Pieter Kok is a chief research specialist in the Urban, Rural and Economic Development Research Programme. Before joining the HSRC in 1980, Pieter Kok was a town planner in charge of research and master planning in the Department of Town Planning for the Newcastle Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. Between 1987 and 2001 he also taught Demography on a part-time basis at the University of Pretoria, where he held the position of Professor Extraordinary from 1990.
Derik Gelderblom is an associate professor in the Department of sociology, at the University of South Africa.
Professor John O.Oucho is the Director and chair of the African Population and Environment institute, Nairobi, Kenya.
Johan van Zyl is a research specialist in the Urban, Rural and Economic Development Research Programme. Before joining the HSRC, Johan was employed by the Bureau for Market Research at the University of South Africa, and served in an advisory capacity for a number of local and international organisations.
